Their leadership lifted the Community Foundation of Broward to new heights.
And the community impact their guidance made possible will be felt by Broward residents for generations.
Cynthia Borders-Byrd, Louise F. Dill and Steven W. Hudson each recently completed their terms on the Community Foundation Board of Directors.
As members of the distinguished team of executives and community leaders who make up our Board, Cynthia, Louise and Steve helped the Community Foundation:
- Achieve record levels of annual grantmaking.
- Grow the Foundation endowment to create more permanent resources for Broward.
- Target endowed support at Broward’s Issues That Matter – 10 big challenges that affect us all and are key to Broward’s future.
- Speed relief to tackle residents’ most pressing needs during the pandemic.
And that’s not all. Cynthia, Louise and Steve also are part of the special group of Board members who had the foresight to launch the Foundation’s most ambitious effort yet – the BE BOLD Leadership Campaign.
The BE BOLD Leadership Campaign sparks innovation and fuels solutions that keep pace with Broward’s growing needs. In addition to their Foundation leadership, Cynthia, Louise and Steve are Foundation Fundholders who have joined the BE BOLD Leadership Campaign’s growing movement to raise $500 million in endowed resources.
Cynthia said as a Board member it was thrilling to see the impact on people’s lives that the Community Foundation creates through support fueled by charitable Funds.
“The organization is top notch,” Cynthia said. “With the BE BOLD Leadership Campaign gaining steam, I can’t wait to see how much more the Community Foundation will be able to accomplish, to make life better in Broward.”
Louise said it was “a true pleasure and a privilege” to serve two stints on the Community Foundation Board.
“It has been exciting to witness firsthand the organization's positive influence and the important role it plays to ensure we maintain and enhance the quality of life in our community,” Louise said. “I will remain a staunch ambassador and advocate of the Community Foundation's mission and important work.”
Steve said he loved his time on the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors and that helping lead the organization as Board chair was a great experience. Steve helped jump-start the BE BOLD Leadership Campaign when the Hudson Family Foundation joined our growing ranks of Community Builders – bold leaders who establish endowed charitable Funds of $1 million or more.
“At the core, the Community Foundation changes lives. To be a part of that, I couldn’t be prouder,” Steve said. “The path that the Foundation is on is incredible. I look forward to seeing great things.”
Cynthia, Louise and Steve each brought unique experiences, talents and perspectives to the Board that will leave a lasting mark on the Community Foundation and the community we serve, said Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D.
“We are so thankful to Cynthia, Louise and Steve for volunteering their time and providing their valuable insights to help shape Broward’s future,” Jennifer said. “We are also grateful that as Fundholders at the Community Foundation, Cynthia, Louise and Steve have entrusted us to be their philanthropy partner.
