The Community Foundation of Broward’s 2025 Legacy Society Luncheon, held Feb. 27 at Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach, celebrated nearly 200 local philanthropists whose $463 million in pledged estate gifts to the Foundation will shape a brighter future for the community they love.

The annual Legacy Society luncheon honors the visionaries whose future bequests to the Community Foundation launch endowed charitable funds that ensure permanent, sustainable support for the issues and causes that matter most to them. By partnering with the Community Foundation to safeguard and manage their endowed funds, Legacy Society members create a legacy of support for the community that never ends.

During this year’s “Sail Away” themed event, the gathering of some of Broward’s most impactful philanthropists enjoyed live music, experienced a blessing from Rabbi Chaim Salavaticki of the Las Olas Chabad Jewish Center and the Friendship Circle, and learned about new Community Foundation initiatives, such as the new “Lead with Love” murals project. Guests also heard anecdotes from Kenny Tate, the owner of Bahia Mar who is a Community Foundation of Broward Fundholder and Legacy Society Member.

The Legacy Society began in 2000 with 19 members whose gift commitments totaled $2 million. Today, the Legacy Society is nearly 200 members strong with $463 million in promises.

Since 2000, grants from endowments created by Legacy Society gifts have produced $67 million in support for student achievement, the arts, career readiness, seniors in need, environmental resilience, health care, affordable housing and much more.

“Legacy Society members are visionaries whose estate plans include charitable giving through the Community Foundation to ensure that Broward’s future remains bright and full of possibility,” said Community Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D. “We are honored to be their philanthropy partner, safeguarding their endowed gifts so that their legacy of community impact never ends.”
