We are saddened by the loss of Suzanne “Suzie” Allen and celebrate her important role in shaping the Community Foundation of Broward that you know today.
Suzie served as a Community Foundation Board Member and Board Chair in the early 1990s, helping guide the Foundation during a crucial time before we had a paid executive at the helm. Thanks to the dedication of Suzie and other early volunteer leaders, we recently celebrated the Community Foundation’s 40 anniversary and look forward to making life better in Broward for generations to come.
Suzie was also one of our dedicated fundholders. She and her husband, Ned, were among our Founding Donors, whose support helped launch the Foundation. We are proud to carry on her legacy of impact by continuing to shepherd The Allen Family Fund for Children – an endowed fund that through the years has supported after-school programs, summer employment opportunities, the arts and other opportunities to help children thrive.
In addition to Suzie’s involvement at the Community Foundation, she held volunteer leadership roles for the Junior League of Fort Lauderdale, the Pace Center for Girls, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Community Foundation of Central Florida.
Our heart goes out to Ned and all of Suzie’s loved ones. Thanks to the power of endowed grantmaking, we are honored to ensure that Suzie’s impact for our community never ends.
A memorial service for Suzie will be live streamed at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19. CLICK HERE to visit her memorial website, where a link will be posted for the service.
