The Community Foundation of Broward’s annual staff retreat featured fun team-building exercises, a thoughtful discussion about our new strategic plan and the opportunity to tour Nova Southeastern University’s Guy Harvey Oceanographic Center.
The waterfront oceanographic center, at the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park in Dania Beach, is an impressive part of NSU’s Halmos College of Arts & Sciences. During our student-led tour we saw how scientists are learning to regrow coral reefs, explore the deepest depths of the ocean and find better ways to protect the environment.
Even though Community Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson couldn’t be there in person (she participated via Zoom), Marketing Communications Manager Ashley Kozich made sure her presence was felt by bringing a life-size cardboard cutout of the Foundation’s fearless leader to stand watch over the proceedings. And somehow Jennifer’s ever-smiling-stand-in keeps showing up in different locations at the Community Foundation office. Make sure to be on the lookout, during your next visit.
