We are pleased to share that dedicated members of the Community Foundation of Broward’s philanthropy family are being recognized for their BOLD impact on our community.
Congratulations to Cathy and James Donnelly as well as the Hudson Family Foundation, who will be honored for their generosity at the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ National Philanthropy Day celebration on Nov. 10.
Cathy and James are being recognized as “Outstanding Philanthropists” and the Hudson Family Foundation is being honored as an “Outstanding Foundation” at the association’s 34th annual celebration, being held virtually this year due to the pandemic.
The Community Foundation nominated the Donnellys and the Hudsons for National Philanthropy Day honors because of their longtime commitment to local philanthropy and their ongoing dedication to support the place they call home.
The Donnellys and the Hudsons are Community Foundation Community Builders – BOLD philanthropists who partner with the Community Foundation to establish endowed charitable Funds of $1 million or more to take on Broward’s big challenges.
The Donnellys’ endowed Fund provides permanent resources to tackle food insecurity, mental health and other issues that matter most to them. The Hudson Family’s endowed Fund supports diabetes research, help for the homeless, urban gardens and more.
In addition to their support for the Community Foundation, the Donnellys and the Hudson Family use their philanthropy to fuel the work of charitable organizations and schools all across Broward. For example, the Donnellys support the United Way of Broward County, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County and Nova Southeastern University. And the Hudson Family supports the Humane Society of Broward County, Habitat for Humanity of Broward, the Pine Crest School and the Broward Performing Arts Foundation.
Also, the Donnellys and the Hudsons often volunteer their time and leadership skills to help make Broward a better place to live. James Donnelly is the current Chair of the Community Foundation Board, Steve Hudson is the past Chair and Holly Hudson Bodenweber is a former Board Member.
“The Donnellys and the Hudsons are such special people who truly love to give back to their community,” said Nancy Thies, Community Foundation Vice President of Philanthropic Services. “We are so delighted that they will be recognized for all they do for us, the many nonprofits they support and our Broward community!”
