Bequest
A bequest, which is provision in your will or trust, is perhaps the simplest way to create your legacy. This allows you to leave a meaningful charitable gift after you are gone, and assets are no longer needed.
You can care for those close to you, then direct the remainder, a percentage, or even a specific item or dollar amount, to the Community Foundation of Broward to fulfill your charitable wishes.
We will preserve your family name and forever connect you to the causes you care about... For Good. For Ever.
Sample Bequest Language
The will/trust should:
- Define the gift - remainder os the estate, dollar amount, percentage of estate or specific items.
- Name the Fund - The Mary Smith Fund.
- Define the purpose - examples include:
- to provide help where the need is greatest: allow the Community Foundation to choose the most impactful programs
- to support community solutions in a certain area: youth who age out of the foster care system, support HIV prevention
- to endow a favorite charity: you name your favorite charity
Remember what is written here will define the Fund. If you have multiple purposes, simly explain.
In a will, language typically looks like this:
I give, devise and bequeath the following assets: ___1-define the gift___ to the Community Foundation of Broward, Inc., to create the __2-name the Fund__, an endowed Fund. The prupose of this Fund is to __3-define the purpose__.
