ReServe Mobilizes Professionals 55 and Over

It's a chance for professionals 55 and older to give back to the community and make a little money.
 
ReServe, a nonprofit that mobilizes skilled retirees to help community groups, is expanding from its South Florida base in Miami into Broward and Palm Beach counties and looking for more "ReServists."
 
The professionals receive $10 per hour for service that might involve mentoring high schoolers, helping a nonprofit executive with strategic planning or writing grant applications for a charity.
 
Fort Lauderdale accountant Glenn Tillman, 64, has been working with a mentoring program at a Plantation high school, aiding students to prepare for college. He finds the experience helps more than the youth. He feels mentally engaged, socially connected, respected and absolutely thrilled to see students bloom.
 
"It's very rewarding," Tillman said of his 20-hours-a-week service. "After a while, it's been changing me." Read more...
