Danaris Cumbie at overcomes anger issues through McNicol's School is Cool 2.0 programs
Danaris Cumbie, one of the students benefiting from McNicol Middle School's R.A.I.S.E. The Bar program, was recently featured in the
Sun Sentinel's December 12, 2016 article by Mary Louise Cruz,
"Raising the bar, one student at a time." More than 640 students at 13 schools currently participate in the Community Foundation of Broward's School is Cool 2.0 work. School is Cool 2.0 has now been incorporated within the Broward County Public School's strategic plan and encourages partnerships with local nonprofits to raise graduation rates through middle school enrichment programs.
The Community Foundation received a $25,000 grant from the
Sun Sentinel Children's Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, to support School is Cool 2.0. During the past 5 years, more than $3.8 million has been invested in programs serving 16 Broward middle schools.
