“Not Quite Paradise” Article Previews Release of Broward Aging Study

6/5/2018

The Community Foundation of Broward is out with a preview of a coming Broward aging study. “Not Quite Paradise” is the lead article in the latest issue of the Foundation’s award-winning Community Matters publication, which is printed and mailed free of charge to thousands of Broward residents.

Picture1.pngThe article details multiple obstacles faced by an aging Broward resident and highlights many of the issues faced by Broward’s seniors, who often struggle with everyday activities like driving, cooking, finances and personal care, especially if aging residents are trying to function without a caregiver, strong social network or basic mobility.

The article also details plans for the release of the results of the most comprehensive recent study of the senior population of Broward County. The study is entitled, “The Silver Tsunami: Is Broward Ready?” It is jointly commissioned by the Community Foundation of Broward, Jewish Federation of Broward County and United Way of Broward County.

Results of the study will be made public at the second annual Caregiver Symposium scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22 at Nova Southeastern University. The Caregiver Symposium is being hosted by the South Florida Institute on Aging and the Caregiver Coalition of South Florida. It is being held at the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship in the DeSantis Building on the campus of Nova Southeastern University.
