(Fort Lauderdale, April 16, 2014) ─ The Community Foundation of Broward celebrated its April 16th Legacy Society Luncheon at the brand new Porter Riverview Ballroom of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The luncheon honors forward-thinking philanthropists who have left an estate gift to the Community Foundation.
Held at the ballroom that was named after former Community Foundation Legacy Society member and philanthropist Mary N. Porter, the event brought together around 140 Legacy Society members, Fundholders, local professional advisors and guests.
“Every Legacy Society member in this room has personal values that are unique and special.  We are honored to preserve your values through strategic, impactful philanthropy that will make a difference.  It’s who you are and what we do,” said Linda Carter, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward.
It is estimated that these future gifts will provide more than $180 million to care for our community.
New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer provided the keynote address. Brad Meltzer is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Inner Circle, The Book of Fate, and seven other bestselling thrillers including his latest novel - The Fifth Assassin.  Brad congratulated all those supporters and donors of the Community Foundation, for investing in the critically important work of the Foundation and reminded them on the importance of leaving a legacy.
The event was sponsored by BNY Mellon Wealth Management. See photos here.
