Community Foundation of Broward Welcomes New Board Members

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 12, 2012) – The Community Foundation of Broward has announced that prominent philanthropic and community leaders, Bob Avian, Francie Bishop Good, Gary Bitner, Nancy Blosser and Margarita Castellon have joined the Foundation's Board.
"These leaders will help guide the Foundation’s efforts to create a stronger Broward," said Foundation president and CEO, Linda Carter. “Their expertise will bring together the many community players required to solve complex challenges and continue to connect philanthropists to causes that matter.”

Nancy Blosser,  Bob Avian and Margarita T. Castellon
Avian began his career as a Broadway dancer performing in shows including West Side Story and Funny Girl. He has won Tony Awards for co-choreographing A Chorus Line and Ballroom. The Fort Lauderdale resident is also a board member of the Miami City Ballet.
Bishop Good is an accomplished artist and a Community Foundation of Broward Fundholder with husband David Horvitz, a former Foundation board member. She is a board member of the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami and a past board member of the Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale. She is also the founder and chairman of Funding Arts Broward (FAB). 
Bitner is president of Bitner Goodman, one of Florida’s largest public relations firms with offices in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. He represents clients such as the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Simon Property Group and Tri-Rail. 
Blosser was appointed as a charter member of the Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees by Governor Jeb Bush in 2001, and has held many leadership positions in that role. She has held many leadership positions on nonprofit boards, including Vice President of the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale and is a Community Foundation Fundholder with her husband Jim.  
Castellon is the Education Relations Manager for AT&T, responsible for meeting the telecommunication needs of the educational community in Broward County. She formerly served as the Cabinet Aide to the State Treasurer responsible for education and the environment. She is past president of the Broward Education Foundation and serves on The FAU President’s Advisory Council.
