(Fort Lauderdale, July, 2 2012) – The Community Foundation of Broward’s publication “9 ½ Minutes - HIV/AIDS Community Update 1989-2011” has been awarded an APEX 2012 Award of Excellence in Public Service communications category.

The publication details 22 years of Community Foundation’s work against HIV/AIDS, and promising approaches to combat the disease in the future.

Linda Carter, the President/CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward, was delighted to learn of the award:  “We believe this publication illustrates the need for a coordinated public health approach to HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in our community.  Our goal was to cast a light on an issue that remains of critical concern to Broward and yet seems to have slipped from public view.”

According to the APEX 2012 judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness."
