Community Foundation of Broward Ranks Among Top 100 Foundations By Assets

7/10/2017
Fourth-straight Year on Columbus Survey

For the fourth consecutive year the Community Foundation of Broward is ranked by the Columbus Survey among the top 100 community foundations by assets. The Foundation took the No. 94 spot with more than $157 million in total assets in fiscal year 2016.

Produced each year by CF Insights, a service of the Foundation Center,  the Columbus Survey annually collects data to uncover financial trends and operational activity among community foundations throughout the United States. The 2016 report was completed by responses from 253 foundations and reflects results from the 2016 fiscal year. The analysis revealed a slight uptick in asset growth across the field after a virtual flattening in 2015. On average, assets of all respondents grew by an average of 5.2 percent.

“This ranking reflects the community’s continued endorsement of the work we do together and its relevance to our Fundholders,” said Linda Carter, President/CEO of Community Foundation of Broward. “We are so proud of the philanthropists we work with who continue to come together at the Foundation to make Broward even greater.

Among all foundations, a significant increase in overall grants was observed in 2016. The Community Foundation of Broward made 738 grants totaling more than $9.1 million during the 2015-16 fiscal year to fund bold and inventive solutions to Broward’s most critical community challenges. These Issues that Matter reflect Broward’s most urgent challenges and are the focal area of the Foundation’s grant making through 2020. Community Foundation of Broward intends to invest more than $50 million in these 10 areas.

The Community Foundation of Broward has remained a constant on the list since first appearing on the Columbus Survey in 2013. Following positive market trends, the Foundation peaked at No. 90 in 2016.
