The 2017 High Potential Graduates of the American Express Leadership Academy.

On Friday, June 2, 2017, The American Express Leadership Academy at the Community Foundation of Broward hosted a graduation ceremony for its third class of accomplished nonprofit leaders. The ceremony was the culminating event in a three-month program designed to help participants develop unparalleled expertise in solving community matters.

The American Express Leadership Academy is designed to help nonprofit leaders build on their track record of success through an exclusive focus on leadership education, executive coaching, and the development of finding solutions to pertinent community matters. The program helps participants increase self-awareness for leadership growth, integrate real-world experiences into goal building, and develop leadership practices that promote healthy decision-making.

This year’s graduating class featured 44 nonprofit leaders from 40 organizations. Participants in the program took part in two tracks, a CEO-level track and a mid-level experience track, based on their career milestones. Both sessions featured structured facilitated learning modules, development assessment, and executive coaching.

The American Express Leadership Academy at the Foundation is sponsored by American Express and is the signature program of AMEX’s funding initiatives. Founded in 2008 in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership, the Leadership Academy includes nonprofit partners, encompasses nine separate programs, spans four countries and impacts hundreds of high-potential emerging leaders annually.

Additional support for the Foundation’s Leadership Academy comes from United Way of Broward County, the Children’s Services Council, the Judith Linnell Foundation, and the A.D. Henderson Foundation, and the James K. Oppenheimer Fund of the Community Foundation of Broward.
