13th Joint Tax & Estate Planning Seminar A Success

October 29, 2014

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (October 28, 2014) –  Community Foundation of Broward, Jewish Community Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Broward County and United Way of Broward County once again joined forces to host the 13th Annual Joint Tax and Estate Planning Seminar and Breakfast. The event took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Nova Southeastern University’s Rose and Alfred Miniaci Theater.

The goal of this annual seminar is to provide an educational forum designed especially for professionals in the estate and trust services arena. It also offers an opportunity for the attendees to learn more about these three major philanthropic organizations in Broward County that significantly impact quality of life for people in the community.
The seminar kicked off with a networking breakfast, followed by a continuing education program from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The event co-chairs included James B. Davis, Esq. of Gunster; Mark A. Krill of BB&T Bank; and Penelope Blair of U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management
“For 13 years now, Community Foundation of Broward has been proud to co-host these informative seminars,” said Linda Carter, President/CEO of the Community Foundation.  “We are pleased to once again work with the Jewish Community Foundation and the United Way of Broward County to provide this service to professionals in our community.” 
Samuel A. Donaldson, J.D., LL.M., Professor of Law at Georgia State University, was the keynote speaker for the event.  He presented on “Income Tax Planning for Estate Planners: Doing Well by Doing Good - A Winning Combination”.  Mr. Donaldson is an award-winning law professor and has authored, and co-authored, many books; including the Price on Contemporary Estate Planning treatise and the forthcoming West casebook, Federal Income Tax: A Contemporary Approach.

Over 650 attorneys, certified public accountants, investment consultants, financial advisors and business professionals registered to attend the seminar.
